Who we are

TORTA began with a simple moment. As a child, Simona made her first cake for her little brother, and what started as a small family gesture grew into a lasting passion. From the beginning, we saw how much joy a cake can bring to people gathered around a table, and that love for creating happiness through desserts remains the foundation of our work.

Originally from Slovakia, our path led us through years of hospitality work that gradually became a shared life shaped by creativity, service, and meaningful connections. Mount Desert Island holds a special place in our story—not only for its coastal beauty, but for the sense of community and warmth we found here.

We lived and worked in Switzerland and the Czech Republic, including Prague, where a modern European pastry philosophy—focused on balance, refinement, and intentional design—became a defining influence on our style. Later, working within the professional environment of a private club in Florida elevated our standards, strengthening our precision, organization, and service approach.

Today, we create cakes and dessert tables that reflect this journey—modern yet rooted in tradition, inspired by coastal Maine, seasonal flavors, and the belief that desserts should feel personal and meaningful. For our clients, this means work made with care and intention, designed to celebrate love, family, and once-in-a-lifetime moments in a place we are proud to call home.
